17th March, 2017.

Recently spent day in Lincoln, mostly around Castle Hill and St. Paul in the Bail area. Allowed to take dog into cathedral, surprisingly, cathedral authorities seem far more liberal than they use to be. Made a great fuss of by one of the vergers. Tea outside No. 1 Castle Hill. Return journey along scarp top road overlooking the Vale of Trent, rather than the A15.

Amazed to see the first cow parsley (see above) in flower on the side of the Humber bank locally, normally flowering late April/into May. All the others growing rapidly at ground level.

Have agreed to do five week course, Nov.-Dec. for Barton W.E.A. on the English Civil War.

Error in previous blog, should state March not Feb.

Three very Spring-like days recently.

Have been asked to give the River Hull talk in Hull across Heritage weekend in Sept.

Barton Civic Soc. talk this evening by new warden for the Lincolnshire Trust for Nature Conservation locally.
