Also visible from the same rear window of a property on Pearson Park (s.p.b.) is the rooftop structure of Stepney Primary School’s (s.p.b.) neighbouring building Beverley Road Baths. Cupolas, or at least decorative rooftop projections on older buildings, seem to be quite common in the vicinity around Pearson Park, Hull. Above is a photo of the cupola(?) projecting from the roof of Stepney Primary School, Beverley Road, Hull, the picture taken from the rear window of a property on Pearson Park itself. David

In a real sense anything standing vertical – pylons, skyscrapers, chimneys (industrial and domestic), statues(?), aerials, trees etc. – falls into this category, it’s just that church towers/spires and rooftop projections come most readily to mind. On the Princes Avenue side of Pearson Park, on a man-made grassy mound, stands a cupola (see above).

The photo above shows the west tower and lead-clad spire of St. Nicholas’ church Kings Lynn, Norfolk.
