The inscription on this plaque reads as follows ‘Dedicated to celebrate the centenary year of the first local authority municipal crematorium in the country’. This confirms my assumption of a couple of blogs ago that this is Hedon Road Cemeteries claim to fame rather than it being the first to exist. As promised a comment

Undoubtedly one of the most interesting elements of the municipal cemeteries in Hull is Hull’s first crematorium (now disused) located towards the eastern end of Hedon Road Cemetery site (not normally visible from the main road), see above picture.
